"Emergency assistance in support of the organisation, provision of legal information and interpretation for the effective management of immigration flows in the Eastern External Borders".

A financing agreement was signed today between the Director of the First Reception Service, Mr. Panagiotis Nikas and the European Commission, to meet the human resources needs that will support the operation of Mobile Units (Samos-Lesbos) and First Reception Centers (Fylakio Evros and Moria Lesvos ) of FRS for a certain period of time.

This emergency assistance ensured by FRS, is 100% funded by the European Commission. It aims to substantial reinforcement of the management of mixed migratory flows, without additional spending on the regular budget.

The mission of the First Reception Service is the effective management of mixed migration flows, with the inclusion of third-country nationals who enter the country without legal formalities in first reception procedures, under conditions of respect of their dignity. These procedures include: registration, identification (identification and nationality), medical check-up and psychosocial support as well as information on their rights and obligations. The First Reception Centers as well as the Mobile Units provide interpretation services to facilitate the communication of third country nationals with FRS staff. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has undertaken the task of informing third-country nationals and interpreting within the framework of the mentioned financing agreement.

The First Reception Service underlines the importance of strengthening its operation through this agreement, aiming at the best possible management of the ever-increasing mixed migration flows due to the humanitarian crisis, which is a prerequisite for adequate staffing.
